The hull is two different colours, dark green and white. I haven't spayed the bottom part white yet because I rushed it. Doing this meant the green hadn't dried completely so when i took the masking tape off it pulled all the green off and left the primer. So I need to sand off all the paint on the other side and do it again.
When the pieces were finished I simply sprayed them black

This was just cut out of 1.0mm styrene. I had to make sure it had a slight curve in it as the hull its self curved upwards.

Paint Job

The paint work on the cabin was quite straight forward in the colour scheme. It was all just white gloss but the only detailing on it was yellow and a deep green. I had to mask off where the details went and then cut out the design so I could just spray over it. It worked OK but when I removed the the masking paper it did pull off some of the colour. I had to repaint this back on by hand.
I decided not to do this as when i had a go it did not work well and it did not look as professional and clean.

An alternative way I could have made my hull would be to have got the profiles, cut them out of styrene, then filled them with foam pieces and then after completely cover it in filler. Once set it could be sanded back until the edges of the styrene could be seen and this should leave you with the hull shape you need.

I filled the gaps with filler and then placed a cut up glove on it which stopped the wooden plug from sticking to it when I squidded it in. Once it had set I just sanded away any excess filler. This idea work really well and I was very pleased with the results.

Iused MDF to make a small plug that gave the right shape for the propellers to sit in.

Underneath where the propellers go had to be cut out then filled again because the CNC machine had cut away to much.

Ihad to sand back the resin as it left brush marks on it and it was uneven in certain areas.

The back of the hull had to be cut out then filled with filler as it showed this on the plans.

When the hull was finished on the CNC machine I stuck the two sides together then sanded back any stepping that was not removed on the machine. I mounted the foam hull on to a piece of MDF then painted it in fibre glass resin. I gave it three coats in total.

The Hull

After the technical drawings of the hull were finished off on rhino I was able to transfer it to the CNC machine. I made my hull out of yellow foam. I chose this material because it is very soft and would machine a lot quicker.
